Terrence
and Leslie Logan
were devastated when their child Robbie was kidnapped at the age
of six and never found. To assuage their grief, they sponsored the
Children’s Connection adoption agency and fertility clinic
in Portland, Oregon, which allowed many childless couples and singles
to realize their dreams of starting a family. The Logans went on
to have two more biological children and adopted three others, including
Jillian Logan and her twin brother David.
In the
original Logan’s Legacy continuity (2004), the Children’s
Connection was plagued by a series of seemingly unrelated scandals
involving baby kidnappings and IVF mixups. In fact, the scandals
were orchestrated by Charlie Prescott, who was adopted out by the
Children’s Connection as an infant and placed with parents
who turned out to be abusive. Even more shocking was discovering
that Charlie had an associate -- and associate who proved to be
the long lost Robbie Logan, brainwashed by his kidnappers.
At the
end of the original Logan’s Legacy, Everett/Robbie had had
a change of heart, largely in part to the loving influence of his
girlfriend, nurse Nancy Allen. He helped reunite one of the stolen
babies with its adoptive parents, provided information that led
the authorities to Charlie Prescott, and revealed his true identity
to his birthparents, Terrence and Leslie Logan. The authorities
agreed not to prosecute him (although he was placed on probation)
and Robbie took the first steps toward getting to know the rest
of his family.
Though
Robbie Logan’s kidnapping has been solved and the Logans seem
to have moved forward, the specter of the past still looms in the
background. Logan’s Legacy Revisited forces the family to
confront some of its demons as it follows the Logan kin who have
been estranged from the rest of the family and examines how history
can still rear up its ugly head. Above all, though, it shows the
healing power of love in coming to terms with the past.
